March 1 at The Astro, in La Vista, Nebraska was the place to be an evening of American hard rock, Night Ranger, based out of San Francisco, California. The band formed in 1979, and experienced a surge of popularity during the 1980s with the release of several successful albums and hit singles. Guitarist Brad Gillis and drummer Kelly Keagy have been the band’s only constant members, though bassist Jack Blades performed on all but one of their albums. Other current members of the band include guitarist Keri Kelli and keyboardist Eric Levy. I have had the opportunity to see their show twice, the first of which took place on June 28, 2015, in Norfolk, Nebraska. Unfortunately, the Norfolk venue is no longer in operation.

When the house lights at The Astro dimmed, the audience rose to their feet and applauded as soon as the band launched into their signature song, “(You Can Still) Rock in America.” Throughout the night, the band’s technical proficiency was on full display. With his charismatic stage presence, amusing anecdotes, and humor, frontman/bassist Blades established a strong bond with the audience. Guitarist Brad Gillis, recognized for his exceptional talent, dominated the spotlight with his impressive guitar riffs; while drummer Kelly Keagy, keyboardist Eric Levy and guitarist Keri Kelli added depth and texture to the sound.

Witness the electrifying performance of Night Ranger, a truly unforgettable experience that must be seen to be fully appreciated. The band is currently on tour across the U.S. by checking their link at Night Ranger 2025 Tour.
